Safety label advice amid ‘Squishy dumpling’ recall

A product recall notice has been issued for fake ‘Squishy dumplings’.

Thousands of the toys have been seized, after the UK government issued a warning last week.

The fake toys contain high levels of the chemical benzene which can cause eye, nose, and throat irritation. They won’t have the correct safety labels showing they have been approved for sale.

Michaela Fallaize who owns the new ‘Let’s Play’ shop at the New Jetty, said all of the squishy toys she sells are approved for sale here through the EU and UK safety accreditation marks they carry.

She advised shoppers look for the labels when buying squishy toys from any retailer.

Toys approved for sale in the EU carry a ‘CE’ mark while toys approved as safe for use in the UK carry a ‘UKCA’ mark.

The squishy toys sold at Let’s Party carry both safety marks, which can be found on the label near the sales barcode.
