12 Jan Window competition winners confirmed
Health Connections in Le Pollet and Adventure Cycles in Grande Rue, St. Martin’s are the two worthy winners of this year’s Christmas window competition.
This popular annual event awards trophies to the best themed façade in Town and to a retailer elsewhere on the Island. Launched by the Guernsey Retail Group and judged by an independent panel, Health Connections and Adventure Cycles each earned the top honour based on the criteria of overall impact, style and flair and how displays captivated and drew shoppers into each store.
Victoria Taylor-Beard, Director of the Guernsey Retail Group, said: “The event has become a popular tradition for retailers who battle it out for the top prize and it also offers a great incentive for them to really go all out with their designs.
“As we have seen each year, the entries were of an exceptionally high standard. Adventure Cycles captivated passers-by with a magical shopfront that was particularly impressive at night. Meanwhile, Health Connections’ design team did an amazing job with their festive, classy and nostalgic feel.
“We hope shops will have seen an increase in footfall and the competition has encouraged Islanders to buy locally.”
The contest began in December and winners chosen this week by an independent panel of judges, comprising Ava Inder from Art for Guernsey and the BBC’s Steph Watkins.
Commendations were also bestowed on St Peter Port retailers Wink, for originality, to the Vape Bar for its fun use of corks and materials and to Creasey’s various stores. Out of Town, Bijoux in the Rohais and last year’s winners, Forest Road Garage, were praised for their creativity.
